Ok, this is going to seem weird.... Has anyone had any experience observing baby amano shrimp? I saw something very strange with some of mine. I was looking at the babies in my hatching/growing tank and noticed one of them not really plucking at the glass to eat. Look closer, with a magnifying glass, I saw that it did not actually have true pincers, but little fans, and was feeding from the water current like a bamboo. For all intents and purposes, the baby looks exactly like an amano, apart from the little fans. I tried looking closer at some of the adult amano in the main tank to see it they had true pincers or some remnants of fans, but couldn't get a good look at them. I was kind of wondering if they might have fans to start off with, which get worn down into more of a pincer type deal, or they change as the shrimp grow and molt.... Or even if adults have some sort of fans. It was quite a shock to see it, and I'm perplexed as to what is going on. It's not like the bamboo and amano are capable of crossbreeding. At least, not that I'm aware of.
Does anyone have any thoughts about baby amano with fans? The shrimp had moved off before I was able to get a picture of it, but I'll see if I can capture some shots.
