I have some store credit from selling my breeding pair of angels to my LFS, they have vampire shrimp for $20 and I thought about getting one or two.

My questions:
Do they prefer soft or hard water?
How can I give them a good current to feed from?
What tank size?
How big do they get? and any other info you'd like to share with me :p:

^ Great site.

They get large (~3"+), look nasty, but are perfectly safe with other species and fish, are filter shrimp and thus require a well established tnak iwth plenty of algae and a decent current to ensure high quality water that is constantly cycling and moving food throughout the water column.

They sure are getting expensive.

1. Indifferent
2. Ideally, set up a hillstream-style tank. Otherwise, give them something to perch on that's close to a current (filter, powerhead)
3. 20g
4. They get to 6"

Thanks everyone :D

So would one of these be compatable with the fish in my 55g?
2 angels(one's blind)
2 GBRs
8 rummy nose tetras
6 mollies/guppies(no babies ever live :( )
9 kuhli loaches
3 female bettas

I have a large peice a drift wood I could move in front of my filter for him/her that is also hollow, so he/she could hide during molting.
