MTS and brakish water?

Well, very slightly brakish water. I need to get a meter to know the SG for sure (and I'll get one on pay day). But I've only got about 1/4 cup of marine salt in a 10 gallon tank. I've heard that as long as they don't come in direct contact with the un dissolved salt they will be fine. Is that true?

If the salt is completely dissolved, they'll be fine. MTS can adjust all the way down to saltwater.

Why are you using salt? An amount that small is barely enough to register on anything but a refractometer.

Sploke~ The reason I'm using salt is because the fish I have will eventually need brakish water. I'm acclimating them slowly because the LFS had them in FW.
