My friend has offered me a mantis shrimp he removed from his tank to put in mine. I don't know much about how to care for them or if they are dangerous to my fish. I have two humbug damsels, two blue-yellow tailed damsels, and two chocolate chip starfish. Its a 55G tank with no live rock. Can I put the mantis shrimp in my tank safely?

I just saw the thread posted by arpy about manits shrimp.:dance2:That helps with the question of care I still need to know if it is safe with my fish.

I think it's a clubber. He looks like he has boxing gloves on his claws.

I don't think mantis shrimp are safe with anything and some can even break fingers. The mantis is definitely something you don't want in your display tank with fish and inverts, I had to get one out of my tank before. Here is a video of one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu6yrC6bjNo

REALLY DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF MANTIS.

look at my sig.

i have a full blown reef with fish, inversts, corals and OH MY GOD a mantis!!!:wall:
