I turned on my lights today only to notice one of my Male Venustus got beat pretty bad. His fins are nipped and he has some scales missing. From what I see, there is no disease that causes this right? Im thinking he took a beating from another fish. Well anyway, what should I do to heal him. I put him in his own 20 gallon QT tank. Any meds or tips would help. Thanks.

Good clean water is best, but you did the right thing first and that was remove him from the cause. Good call! ;)

You can always use a mild Med designed to help heal wounds such as melafix, but honestly all you really need is clean water and a protein rich diet. The danger here is a secondary infection. the clean water will reduce or even eliminate this risk. The Melafix will help speed up the healing process and will target some lessor bacterias, but certainly not all of them.

It sounds like he will be fine with time :)

that will depend on the amount of damage.

the more severe damage will take longer.. fins can heal in days depending on they type of damage.

since you will be needing to do water changes (preferrably daily) keep an eye on the fish to monitor it;s progress.
I agree with using clean water to heal wounds.
I will use pimafix and melafix but on rare occassions. most inuries will heal on their on.
clean water really helps to keep bacteria in check(the same as pimafix and melafix) but the water is cheaper . ;)

I had a VERY badly beat up Jewel, a hunk taken out of her side and multiple fins missing, I moved her over to the h tank, gave her primafix and melafix, I mix my own, clean water daily, she wouldn't eat for the longest time almost a week, I threw a feeder guppy in to clean up the food she wasn't eating, one day she ate, started to heal and I knew she was all better when she ate the guppy!

His slime coat look like it took a good beating. Is this early signs of any diseases?

Would aquarium salt help heal the wounds? Yes, I plan on doing daily water changes to help the healing process.

I find that if you keep the fish unstressed and in clean water, fins heal very quickly. I have had many fish with torn and ripped fins fully recover very quickly with little or no med use. I only use meds if I really have too
