Yesterday I picked up a 50w (2 25w bulbs) Aquanetics U.V. sterilizer that I found on craigslist for $20 :headbang2: One lamp is burned out but I only need 1 anyway for my 125g. This was kind of a last resort to fix a free floating algae problem that has resisted all normal treatments.
Anyway, plumbed it into my sump last night and accidentally left it on all night. My tank lights were off this morning so I didn't get a chance to see how it looked. Until I got home tonight.... Let me just say, holy crap! Is there even any water in my tank? I can't tell. Did someone replace my glass tank with an acrylic one? I used to think my water was clear before the algae outbreak but it wasn't even close.
I took a few pictures of the tank but they don't begin to do it justice so I won't bother. I will say that if you don't have one, buy one. I'd gladly pay regular price for one after seeing how well they work.
