Hello everybody.:hi: quick question bout PH. I'm using Kent Marine PH Buffer. Is this a good buffer? Also I need to add it bout once every 2 weeks. this sound normal? My PH when I buff is 8.2 but 2 weeks later and its down to bout 7.8. Not good right? Ijust check my params right now and here they are
PH-8.0 to 8.2 hard to tell with color chart the color is so close
AMMO-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-20
Calcium-380
Phosphate-.1 to .2 also hard to tell colors very close to each other
I'm using all API test kits execpt the phos which is Red Sea. Are these good test kits. Would love to here what you all think. thanx in advance:)

What is your alkalinity? That can help stabilize your pH (in addition to other things). Your calcium is low, as well. What are you keeping in the tank, exactly?

As far as low pH goes, you can consider increasing circulation in the tank, especially toward the surface. You can also consider kalkwasser, which when used carefully, will keep pH stable and add calcium and alkalinity ions at the same time. Good gas exchange can often help these sorts of problems.

Right now I only have 1 blue leg hermit, also 30# LR & 20# LS in a 30 gallon tank. Thats it. I don't have a alk test kit ( i a bad boy). My powerhead only moves 270 gph so I'm a little underflow. Gunna get alk test kit tomorrow and one more powerhead. Seen one that moves back and forth. Had to save a lil $$ and i have it now so....also using a whisper HOB filter with no carbon just floss and sponge. Is that good? Maybe I should take it out and put in some LR rubble. 1 more thing think i should have the 2 powerheads facing each other or pushing water in diff direction. Like one towards the top and one down? My avatar is my setup and you can almost see how the flow hits the top left corner. good exchange at the top? prob not huh.
