my lfs had some tags on the shelf that i am guessing were quite old. they honored the price so i picked up an aquaclear ac200 and a ac300 for about what i would have paid at big als. i'm sure the new price tags will be 8-10 dollars higher.
the 200 will go on a 20g long [pulling the ugf out and switching to pool filter sand] and the 300 will be one of 2 filters on a 55g.
i'm glad they are quieter than the walmart Regent filter on my 29g. its year and a half old and starting to make noise.
i just put in the foam pads and carbon bags that came with them and set them up on the back of the cycled 125g for now. how long before the bacteria load will be full strength? should i give it 2 weeks or so?
is it better to run them with 3 foam pads in them for max surface area of bacteria?
