I have an unusual situtation:

I do want to start a planted freshwater tank however I do only have the standard light that fits over a 20g high tank-

This current tank is 40 gallons BUT this size isn't sold anymore as it's a deep tank

it's 31'' deep 20'' wide and 18'' long

(If I got the gallon wrong then LET me know!)

I've been going back and forth in getting lights. I am trying to reduce the cost of spending on a light I need for the tank, so far I have noticed the

20" Satellite Compact Fluorescent 2X40W w/Lunar Light

is being sold on ebay for 98 dollars plus 15 dollars shipping. I do perfer to spend less and to save some money on CO2 kit too.

Is this a ideal light I need for the amazon type of plants?

I've always kept fish but never bothered with plants until recently. so Basically I'm a newbie in plants.

If the reflector is decent and you use bulbs in the 6500K-9325K range, that light should be very good for medium light & lower light plants.

I suggest reading the "Concise Guide" at www.rexgrigg.com

I've set my eyes on Coralife 20" 6700k 96w Aqualight Aquarium Strip Light (http://cgi.ebay.com/Coralife-20-6700k-96w-Aqualight-Aquarium-Strip-Light_W0QQitemZ220146452172QQihZ012QQcategoryZ4631 4QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif</IMG> 84 plus 15 something for shipping at ebay at the link above.

est. gallonage is 40 in this certain tank so it would average to 2.4 w per gallon-

ANY feedback before I purchase this the lowest deal was 99 something at big als? ?!?!?! :help:
