Can you keep a tank inside a cabinet stand?

For instance...I setup the new free cabinet stand which is probably 36" long..then I put my mouse tank on top, get that standard 20 gal from the thrift store and put it inside on the bottom rung.
My immediate use of the new tank will be to house my male betta, after that, fry tank. Honestly I don't mind that I couldn't see the tank all the time...Space is tight and it'd be a practical place to put it.
 
if there is support under the bottom shelf close to where the tank is going to be sitting, then yes. if it is 36" long and the only weight-bearing legs are on the sides, no. the shelf will warp. otherwise you could cut some wood to fit and screw it in place to support the shelf directly under where the sides of the tank are going to be.
 
I agree with Wata...if it is just a shelf that is laying on those pegs sticking out of the side panels, you need to do some reinforcement.
 
Still waiting to get the cabinet stand.
