yea the neolamprogus brichardi is classified as a tanganikian shelll dweller but it is a common misconception there classified as that due to the fact that there in the neo. family witch is made up of mostly shelldwellers well in a 10 gallon i wouldnt put any there little toppin out around mabye 2in i have 3 in a 55 one was chased to the point she was laying on the sand barly breathing i saved her in the qt tank and luckly i had a 30 gall tang. tank there little firecrackers with fins pretty aggressive for the neo. family so i mean mabye 2 in a 20 gallon but none in a 10 consider actual shell dwellers such as the brivus or multifacus of course with sand and shells if u need ne more help fill free to pm i love sharing knolage i gatherd

Brichardi are not shell dweller. Shellies would be okay in a ten, but I would say no on the Brichardi. I say 20 gallon is minimum. All you need is a male and a female, then the rest come natural.

Shelldwellers are cichlids from Lake Tangynika. They're natural habitat floor has alot of shells in which they breed and make them there homes. Ive got 2 neolamprilogus leleupi in my 20 high with a piece of driftwood, some baseball size(shaped rocks) the rest covered with 25 Delphinula Shells, 5 Triton Shells, and 15 Gold Mouth Turbos Shells and they love them.

I never knew that N. brichardi had a common name, I've always seen them sold @ the lfs under the scientific name or just 'brichardi'

i decided to trade my anglefish and neons in for them so that they could have the 20 gallon to themselfes, so i got 5 and they were in the tank for 5 days and then this morning i found one dead then a couple hours later i found 2 more dead so i looked in the tank and it was all cloudy i think i read somewhere that it could be a bacteria thing or something, they looked fine when the lights came on and then it was a couple hours later i found the first one dead. I did a 50% waterchange and it still looks cloudy, what could it be? I still have 2 left they look healthy but so did the others.

always test your water parameters..this will help establish a starting point to determine what may be wrong.
cloudy water usually does len towards a 'bacterial thing' as in bacterial bloom but usually result of an imbalance in the tank.
you need to check ammonia, nitrites and nitrates
brichardi need a bigger tank...say 20/30 gallon for a male female pair and you need a plan for the fry...to get a nice colony going you want something bigger...55 plus.
when a pair spawns they will terrorise anything that comes near...no tankmates in a smaller tank...in a bigger set up you could try calvus and/or leilupi but no guarantees the brichardi won't do for them. for such beautiful fish they are terrors when breeding. most common advice is species tank only.
