I have been planning the move for a while. My refugium/sump is not changing just the tank size is going up 40liters (same tank i have but half again taller). My migration plan is to have my new tank next to my old tank (it's a big cabinet), cut power, move rock to new tank, capture my only fish a small damsel and keep it somewhere, drain old tank (i have 100 litres of 4 large containers).. once old tank is drained remove it, slide over new tank, fill new tank, add 40 litres of pre-mixed water from the day before to bring the volume up, hook up my refugium/sump to the new tank, power on, do some testing, etc. I am thinking my rock could be exposed out of water while the new tank is being filled, how long is this acceptable for if at all? Thanks!

If you have any clean buckets or coolers, you could always keep your rock in there while handling all the other moving tasks. Since you'll be draining the old tank anyways, you could just add some of that water to the buckets / coolers with your rock.

Otherwise, like Niko said, wrapped in wet newspaper or wet paper towels, the rock will do fine for reasonable amount of time.

Cool thanks guys! A bit off topic but i got a refractometer the other day and it states i need to calibrate it but the control temp for calibration must be done in a room that is 68degrees.. well it's summer time here in NZ and we don't use air conditioning or anything (with windows open in summer here it is like 72-74) I am now perplexed as how to calibrate this thing lol. Maybe I need to go to a shopping mall with AC or something and sit in the food court and calibrate it although this might freak a few people out..
