I recently added two banana plants to my tank. One of them has kept its new leaves close to the plant and the other is shooting leaves to the waters surface. The last shoot I can pull it up straight and it stands almost two feet out of the water. Is there a way to trim these down with out killing the plant?

You can just cut off the stem.

You can just cut off the stem.

At the base or anywhere?

Cut the stem the base. If you want to keep a few of these lily pad leaves that's fine.. I personally think they look nice. But the more of them you keep the less energy the plant will budget toward the submersed leaves and so any new submersed leaves will be stunted.
