Has this happened to you?
I have an episode of bloat attack on my Lamprologus leului. I have a colony of about 25 adult Lamprologus leulupi that I raised from fry. Recently, the males started to die off from bloat and I am down to four males. None of the female leulupi and other fish in the tank were affected. A few months ago, the same thing happended to my Lamprologus cylindricus colony. Only the males died and I am down to a single male. The death was caused by bloat, not from injury, though the males engaged in fighting among themeselves a lot.
Could bloat be caused by stress from fighting or fighting itself, specially jaw locking, can physically transmit the germs that cause bloat?
