I was looking around for good (but not huge) sized catfish for my larger FW I plan on setting up.

My stock will be this,

A school of 6 false julii cories
Blue, white calico, and sunburst platies
Possibly some black mollies.

so... I found this guy...

L059

I was told he was just a morph of a bristlenose. I read up on those and found that they are mostly peaceful, but sometimes aggressive twards other bottom feeders. Does this mean he will not go well with my cories? they are just little guys, less than 2 inches long, and he is 6 inches. I don't want my cories getting hurt or bullied.

What is his min tank size? I will be getting at least a 50 gal.

Any other information would be appreciated... also.. if he would work out for me... anyone know were I can find one?

Are there any similar catfish that you think would work?

Thanks :)

where did u find him for sale? do they stay that dark into adulthood? very nice find for breeding. im sure cories will be ok as long as there are rocks and driftwood to hide. my common bns dont bother anyone.

Those fish are almost never imported. I'd seriously doubt you could purchase them for use as janitors, but kudos to you if you do find them! They are a blackwater ancistrus, so they would be happiest in a somewhat warmer, softer water set up, if you purchase wilds. The aggression will be along the lines of posturing and defending a territory. They should pose no danger to Corydoras.

Wow, pretty cat!

I know hes beautiful, I have not seem him for sale, just found while searching planet catfish. If they need soft water then I'm afraid I cant get him, even if I could find one,.. I have VERY hard water. I wouldn't really want him as a janitor. I just really like him...

Anyone know of any good looking catfish that might work for me? I want an adult size of 5-7 inches.

L005 pleco good choice

I have an L005 pleco, beige in color with small white spots. Said to get up to 3.9 inches according to planet catfish. He is quite an interesting character. I purchased him at something fishey.com. They are a bit pricey though.
