I went to the monthly reef club meeting and was given about 7 mushrooms that were cut off the rocks..

How do you attach mushrooms so something So they aren't floating around the tank where ever they want??

you can try using a fine mesh material to hold them onto the rocks, worked out very well in the past for many people..

I personally just use plain cotton thread. With a needle run the thread through the mushroom and then tie to a piece of rubble.

YOu ned to be careful IMO becuase the water flow isn't as good as the open mesh. I haven't had great luck with PH for the shrooms. I use a plexi container with rubble and they adhere quickly.

Can you use super glue???

The superglue gel is hit and miss becuase of how slimy they are. I have some that I have succesfully put on a plastic plug on my frag rack and others that stay for a day and then float. The best option for me is to put a plastic containter (I have a box as I mentioned before) with small pieces of rubble in it and let them attach. It seems to go much quicker than other methods I have tried. The box has alid with holes in it for water flow - but not enough to move them around, just to get fresh water flow. Hope that helps.

How long did it take them to attach.. I tried the superglue with netting first.. But when I picked up the netting to see how they were doing a few of them blew back into my tank somewhere that I cannot see or reach... :(

So I have two of the 4 heads left and have had them in a container with some rubble but they are not attaching....

The veil method is good becuase it gives good water flow, etc. the stockings are problematic when I use them on the mushrooms.

Attached are two photographs. One is of the box I use, it simply sits at the bottom of the tank and the holes allows water to flow through without disturbing the fragged shrooms. The second shows a couple of pics of two ricordea mushrooms that I have used superglue gel on and they have held onto the plug for about three weeks now. When I use the rubble method (puting small pieces of rubble in the box and then in about 7-10 days the shrooms are attached. That has been my experience.

Hope this helps, let me know if there is anthing else I can do. Best of luck CL

I think its my fault for not explaining the method right to start with Almondsaz..as i was not refering to pantyhoe stocking type material...hands held up to that one from me....

On an oddly related note...I so wish I could be a fly on the wall when some of you men go purchase stockings. Just to see the looks and any attempt at explaining it is for your "hobby".
