I got some juvi angels yesterday, all about 1.5 inches and I've read that the juvi's prefer to eat 2-3 times a day. Mine have not eaten at all that I've seen since I got them. I've put a small amount of flake in 2x a day and they just ignore it. Even if it floats by their face: nothing. The cories on the other hand, doing great. I haven't had a chance to check tank parameters since I got them, but I'll get those tested in a couple hours.

How does the tank look? Heavily-planted or bare bottom? Water parameters? Appearance of their poo? Temperature of tank?

As a general rule, juveniles should be fed a lot more frequently in comparison to the adults. You bought them only yesterday. Be patient until they become completely accustomed to your tank.

How did you do the acclimation?

a group of juvi angels should be eating like a pack of starved feral dogs at every meal. if they don't start eating by tomorrow and your water parameters check out (0 ammo, 0 trite - they are very sensitive to bad conditions), then you may have an internal parasite problem.

I did the acclimation like I normally do, float bag so the temp will be the same, then gradually add tank water over the course of an hour or so. Tank is sand substrate with some large rocks, 2 Java Fern, 1 Sword and 1 large Water Sprite. 1 angel died earlier and another is looking unwell. Swimming on side and back, resting sideways on the sand and doing loops. :( I have a slight presence of ammonia so I'm gonna do a 50% wc right now.

Finished the water change, now have under .25ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrites and 5ppm nitrates. *crosses fingers*

you cycled the tank right?

The tank is new, but I had the filter going for 2 weeks on a mature tank.

....And apparently that wasn't enough. I started a mini cycle. GRRRR!!! Another angel loss during the night. Transfered the remaining one to a mature 10g for the time being.

Not enough bacteria brought over. What ever tank you had it in is only going to have the amount of bacteria for that tanks bio load, and only some would develop on the new filter. It wouldn't be enough to do a full stocking on the new tank it is going to.

Keep up those water changes. Are you using Prime as the dechlor?

Yep Prime. Since I couldn't do an immediate water change (had to wait for hot water heater to catch up), I dosed the tank first to help with the ammonia and dosed new water at wc time too. Going to do another wc tonight too.

At least the Prime will detox the ammonia...just do your best to keep nitrites less than .25 with those water changes.
