Today I got everything together to put my 5 gallon tank in the chimney, since our house does not use it. Had the 5 gallon for quite a while and been used as a qt on and off. Had no real place to place the tank so my father said to put it in the chimney. Water changes and what not would be pretty difficult if i just stuck it in there so i built a platform with 4 wheels so i can pull the tank out slowly when i need to acess it and push it back in place. My father built me the miniture hood a while ago too, i stuck in a 10watt light strip that i found in the garage and added some new gravel. Still wondering what to stock it with, was thinking get started with some easy plants too. I stuffed my ac50 on my 20g with extra filter floss to seed this tank in a week or so. Heres all the pics i took today while getting everything together. I think i should of made the hood match the platform :headshake2:. Ill be waiting for the santa jokes :perv:.

Im ganna use it as a qt for few guppies for my 20ga in a week or so then thinking of a betta. Only live plant i have experience in is christmas moss which is in my 20g so i would like to start with simple plants in this small tank. The fireplace has a metal gate that closes or opens above it. It has been closed since forever. I was worried about temperature since the beginning and will be following the temperature closely. If temperatures arnt stable i might try to put some styrofoam above the fireplace to block some air.

nice. i like the hood, very clean. and niko, there's nothing wrong with only being able to view a tank from the front ;)
