That light will give you almost 3 wpg. You will probably have to add co2 and ferts to really make the plants thrive. You could try it without adding anything and watch the plants.

I assume your 90G is 24" deep like mine. If so the the 4x65 should be fine. You lose a lot of light going that deep. I use 3 2x55 kits from AHSupply on my 90G and still have trouble with ground cover plants. I run CO2 and Ferts.

I love the AH kits.

Really don't want to do the CO2 route, I'd like to see what I could get out of having this super fancy light! lmao!

I believe that explaining to my fiance that I have to now purchase CO2 for the tank in order for the plants to thrive might be a tall order (she has had 0 aquarium keeping experience until now) so all of this is new to her, not to me, but her.

You know how our women get when we spend money on our hobbies sometimes!!! :headshake2:

Maybe I should go for a compact route? Unsure still... Any further insight would be greatly appreciated as I need to make my decision quite soon.

Yep, surely it is. I switched from the normal AGA flourescent bulb 40w, to the Corellife Nutrigrow 40w, and all I really notice is a difference in Kelvin rating. The nutrigrow is pure white, and the flourescent has a purplish tinge to it (which I do fancy over the pure white). I believe it gives more vivid colors off from past setups and fish experience.

Now in my 37, I have the same Nutrigrow light, 20w, and it was noticeably brighter than the 20w flourescent AGA. I did add tinfoil to the inside of the lighting fixture though (where it's normally white plastic) I'm sure that did help on the reflection stand point of things.

I'm not going to buy 2 of these lights...... well... not now. My 90G is my big tank, so I want that one to be the main showcase tank. So I'm doing everything big on that one.

I have noticed that most people purchasing this light were using it for reef, where the live rock and coral really benefit from the high powered lighting. Now, I'm sure the plants will, depending on which I choose of course, but I'd like to make the right choice for a good well rounded approach.

I did speak with H3D yesterday and he said since I didn't want to do CO2 right away I could probably get by with 180w of light on the 90 and still see some nice growth.

:help: I'm still not 100% on what to get, any links to products would be appreciated! Oh, and if they are from bigals, even better, they have a sale going on, free shipping, for the next 8 or 9 days I believe. :grinyes:
