I can't decide between a pair of red oscars or a pair of red tiger oscars for my newly aquired 100g, would one of each type be compatable and if so would it matter which type the male and which the female? I would also consider other types of cichlid but not blue acaras or convicts which i have in other tanks.
Suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
If you want a true pair I would suggest buying five to seven juveniles and letting them pair off and then removing the extras. As far as the color I would go with the tigers, I have an albino tiger and its pretty cool too. If you went with another type of fish besides an oscar personally I would go with a cool tankbuster like a trimac or festae. Or maybe a jag, they look absolutely stunning when they get to be a foot, and will annihilate anything, truely a spectacular predator. Either route good luck!

Reds are not red at all. They are sort of cupper. SO tiger is the one. FOr albino's watch out that the red is good red color.
I think festae, red-breasted flower horn, or jags are great. I fyou are into one fish for the tank. Otherwise for color, I wouls go witha dark jack dempsy, golden sevrum, and two tiger oscars, one albino one regular. There is a brown/gray oscar tiger which is very cool also. All of these fish will get along great.
I would not put more than four in a 100G. If you can go for a 135G with these five. It would look great, you can throw in a pleco as well. :)
I wouldn't keep a jag in a tank that small personally. I would go with a pair of albino tigers if I were to get oscars. If I were to go a different route I think I would put a midas or Red devil in there. Or maybe a pair of salvini, jacks, or maybe a single saum with some dithers.

go with a golden jaguar, they always look nice in 100g.
