I just picked up a used 2026, came in yesterday, and I have a few questions(searched for it, got lazy after the 4th search and decided to post).
The tubing, it's just 5/8" ID tubing? The guy that I bought it from had cut his very short, so I told him not to even worry about shipping it. I'm heading to Home Depot today, so I wanted to see what to get.
Setting up the filter media, this is how the guy had it laid out, but I'm curious what variations I can have. From the bottom: Course Filter pad, Filter Basket(first layer is another course filter pad, then EfhiMech), then goes straight to the filter basket with Ehfisubstrate, then fine filter pad. My question, are the back to back course filter pads really needed and/or what's the best way to lay out the filter pads. I'm interested in having some kind of thin filter(perhas the fine filter) in the basket with the Ehfisubstrate. Some of the substrate is able to fit through the holes in the filter basket.
If I was interested in picking up some cheap stuff to cut down for filter pads, what's a good choice.
Also, I hear tell of a sponge that goes over the inlet to filter out large debris....is this an accessory eheim sells or is this a DIY(and if so, out of what)?
This is my first experience with a cannister filter, so, lots of questions.
