I recently got a mushroom, some star polyps and another kind of polyp but I'm not sure which kind, and a small piece of hammer coral. I was told they would do well in a tank with enough lighting, a little bit of current and that they didn't have any other requirements (as long as it was just a small amount otherwise they may need an iodine supplement). What should my salinity level be at? Is there anything I should be doing? How do I know the coral is getting enough light and that everything is healthy?
The salinity isn't any different from any other SW tank. I recommend 1.024-1.026. I feel the hammer will do better with more than basic lights but the mushrooms and star polyps will be fine with basic lights. I would not supplement iodine as good salt mixes and regular water changes should provide all that is needed and is very easy to overdose on iodine in supplement form. Could you tell us more about the tank? What else is in it?

It is a 50 gallon tank. I have a coralife system with 2 T5 bulbs and and Glo life system with 1 T5 bulb and an actinic 03 bulb. My salinity level is a pretty steady 1.023 which I'll bring up a little. I have a percula clown, a firefish, a small sailfin and yellow hawaiian tang (I will be upgrading my tank in a few months), a watchman goby, 2 hermit crabs, an emerald crab, a featherduster and some astrea snails. I use Tropic Marin Pro-Reef sea salt mix. Will this mix give everything enough of what it needs? Also, I usually top up the tank once a week and do a water change once a week.
They'll be fine filtering from what the fish don't capture in my opinion.

what exactly do you mean by "a little bit of current"? out of curiousity? and yes as grins said they shouldn't need anything extra, they'll just filter what they need out of the water column. i would however bump up that SG as you said you would :)

I neglected to answer this before, sorry. Yes, that is an excellent reef salt and there shouldn't be any need to dose iodine with it and your weekly water changes.
