Iv never breed shrimp before but i want to start breeding cherry shrimp, so will a 2 gallon tank be enough for 10+ cherrys to breed in? There is going to be live plants including java moss.

I know people use small tanks, I've not tried it myself. I have read that larger tanks are better because it's easier to keep the water parameters stable. I've gotten a lot of information from Petshrimp.com. Be careful if you post there, the forum owner is very particular about people following the rules. I think a small tank would soon be overrun with shrimp as well.

Good luck with your shrimpy adventure. I spend as much time watching my shrimp as I do my fish.

Oh DC, your restraint is admirable :lipssealedsmilie:!! I'm impressed :) !

Interestingly, the most successful amateur shrimp breeder in my area has them in a surprisingly small tank - 18". ADA substrate, small power filter, a few Crypts, calcium supplements, 26C, no fish. Power filter may not work with Cherries though, due to the larval stage...

Good luck!

cherries don't have a larvel stage, and you should have at least a 5 gallon for the shrimp i use a power filter with a sponge on the intake, to keep the babies safe,..

I use a 10g with a sponge filter, and tons of plants. I just had several pregnant females release their eggs and tiny shrimp come out. I started with about 20 and it looks like my numbers are going to be closer to 100 after the first set of hatchings!
