Generally speaking I'd say 7.8.0-8.5 pH is fine so your 8.2 is safe. There are some things to consider when looking at pH though and if you'd like a better understanding of reef chemistry and are willing to read how things like alk are best understood in conjuction with calcium I high suggest the beginner series of articles by Randy Holmes-Farley:
