I have some 'cornish bogwood' in my 30g tank which despite soaking for a week is colouring the water. The fish don't seem to mind and the chemical balance is ok. How long will this colouration continue for and is water replacement the only way of removal?

Can't give you an exact timeline--the would may leach tannins for a few more months, or for years. You can try boiling it--this removes them more rapidly than just soaking. Running carbon for a few days will remove it, though it will come back and you'll have to replace the carbon often.
