I see that many fish keepers mix different species, is there a possibility that it might happen? :silly:

yep very much so...hybridisation is a bit of a hot topic amongst aquarists...best rule of thumb is if you are going to raise hybrids, keep them in your own tank i.e. don't put them out there in the trade. It weakens breeding stock.

personally I have a female leilupi which I am very attracted to...not half as attracted however as one of the fellows in the tank which keeps fertilising her eggs...resulting fry have never made it past little fingernail size so hard to tell what the mix is...best guess is an aulonocara peacock though...would be a strange fish to see at full size

At that time that I have not known about hybrids yet, my jellybean and convict cichlids bred several batches of fry.:perv:

In my many many years of fish keeping and breeding, my friends and I have sucessfully mixed a nElectric Blue with a female electric yellow, the babies grew up to have the same body type as an Ele. blue but a very weird yellow color. We have mixed numerous tropheus mooris (such as a rainbow and a yellow moori) and were actually still waiting for them to grow up to see the results. My buddy has an all moori tank and only deals with mooris its one of the best moori tanks I've ever seen. We mixed a White calvus with a gold face comprecepss also still waiting. Some of the more weirder things we've had was a female dolphin moori mated with an OB fulliborni and a deep water hap. I had one of each of the babies and they both came out looking beautifu,l and got rather large before I gave them away. And somehow I have no idea how but in my buddies tank a painted cichlid mated with his newer female blue dolphin moori... I know... I didnt believe it either but its true. I plan to have one of each of these weird hybrids in my 55g by this summer once they've grown.
