I got 2 clowns what do these guys eat? They said they were on brine shrimp so I have some of that what else do I need like flakes, pellets any other frozen ect..

And the chaeto I picked some up to put in my Aquapod 12 in the 2nd compartment is the a submerisable light I can get instead of the peeling the black off, or a light to just go on top of it.?

You can use a light on top of it. Many just use a shop light and compact flourscent bulb over their fuge area. It is fine for chaeto.

And my clowns were bought off a reefkeeper that feed them marine greens and that is pretty much all they care to eat it seems. In general though I've seen clowns eat meaty foods, vegetative foods, seaweed off a clip....

Our two clowns will eat just about anything -- live brine, live mysis, frozen mysis, frozen Formula 1, frozen Formula 2, nori (dried seaweed used for Asian cooking), and a variety of pellet foods.

My clown will eat most anything except the dried seaweed. He has tried it a few times and just doesn't seem to be into it. hah. As far as a the lighting for chaeto. I originally used a clip on shop light with the standard metal reflector and a 6500k spiral compact fluorescent. This didn't seem to give great results so I tried a 2700k (very very yellow) flood light with a R40 built in reflector. This worked slightly better than the 6500k spiral, assuming because of the better reflector. After reading about on Melevsreef.com (http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html) I opted for a 5100k with a PAR38 reflector and have been having great results. I use the 19w.

can't help as far as the chaeto lighting but just try out some diff foods for your clowns. try to add some garlic extreme if you like... mine eat anything that touches the water... so what clowns did you end up with?

Most clowns will eat just about anything. A friend of mine has a mated pair of golden maroons that will even try to bite the hand that feeds them.:)

You are correct Rich they try to bite me every time I put my hands in the tank and they will eat anything that hits the waters surface never yet seen a clown be picky about what they get fed. When I had my nano cube delux I never did run any macro in the filter all I did was fill the first chamber with rubble rock and it ran good and still is, if you did get cheato you could just put it in the corner of the tank because it doesnt really attach to your rock work then it would get the light it needs, I have seen it done this way many times.

Maybe that is why my clowns don't try to bite me...they were turned into vegetarians by their first owner.

My clowns eat everything.. They prefer spirulina flakes over cycolpseze flakes, they eat just about anything in my ominvore feed that I prepare.. My picky eater is actually my Lyretail but he is coming along to accepting even the spirulina in the mornings..

As far as the chaeto goes I does great in my tank under a 65k compact florescent. I had an issue where there were no nutrients in my water to sustain it so I have changed how I am doing some things and my nitrates are still at 0 and its back to growing again.

Hah. Nice. The only one that used to attack my hand was the damsel (I know, shocked!). My clown started doing it lately, I guess the damsel is a bad influence on him.

He is in the damsel family himself. Just watch that clown attacking the turtle video for further proof..lol

My clowns eat anything.. Normal Fish food, seaweed, aglae, brine shrimp, those translusient little critters you see run for cover after you turn on the light, sand, snails, crabs, live rock, my hand, my hair, other fish, part of my filter, bubbles..

Hrmm, I wonder if you can cross bread a clown with a Piranha...

well the frozen brine shrimp I bought I think were a little too lage for my tiny clowns.

I went out and got some fish flakes and they devour that like crazy.

Now my ? is in a 12 gallon should I feed them once a day or once every 2 days. I don't want to overload the tank with food.

you could feed a tiny amnt 2x a day or just once a day to start with. i feed 2x but i have more fish and a pile of other living things in the tank to take care of any leftovers...
