I have not got all the fish in it yet, just finished the rockwork and wanted to know what you all think of it.

Beautiful...I loooove the rock work. I'm hoping for a new tank at Christmas to add to my 3 other tanks (MTS is hitting me hard) and I would love to do a cichlid tank since I already have 2 other tropical tanks and a goldfish one. I'd want it to look like yours too! Its sooo nice! I love how bright it is as well. All around very nice. The only thing I would add is some plants and I bet you could grow some nice ones, but I am aware that Cichlids will shred some plants. Even some fake ones could do the trick too probably...those grassy ones in the front are fake right? I can't tell if the one on the left is fake, but it looks pretty real. I meant to ask, what kind of rock is that? It looks like the kind of rock I used when building my pond, which was limestone, but i'm not sure if thats what yours is. Excellent job. Make sure to post pics once you've got your tank stocked and complete!

Honestly I'd restack the rockwork so there are more hiding spots. More leaning of pieces on other pieces should do it but it looks good otherwise.

great work. Looks great.
Just make sure the rocks are secure. Cichlids pack a mean punch and can move and nudge rocks around.
lovely rocks you have, and a nice scheme...I can see what Ice is talking about, but the regular "brickwall under water" looks nice as well....nice asymmetry with the large plant/driftwood on the left hand side too.

Nice. The plants and driftwood seem out of place. The plants will be eaten by the mbuna anways, as it is their main diet.

unless the plants are fake.;)
nice start..you'll prob change things from time to time but it's a great start..I like the look of the driftwood and plant(but as mentioned hope it's a fake plant)

it has very good balance, between the rockwork and then the driftwood and plants. good job with that.

Nice work.
I would move the plant to the right a little bit - switch place w/ the small pile of rocks next to it, and pointing the woods the other way. Just a thought:)

The name of the rock is buckskin limestone. Its got lots of hiding places as it is so i wont be changing the rocks around to make bigger holes for a while seeing as i have only 24 fish in there and they all range from 1/4" to 1.5". The plants are fake.. i was thinking of putting one more plant in there behind the right side corner of the driftwood, something like the big one i have in there now but a lot smaller... Everyone seems happy and a lot of the fish's colours seem more pronounced now that the rocks are in and I've added a few fish. I'm very happy with the results and I'll probably be adding some more fish very soon.
Updated pics will be added soon! thanks for all your input so far.

If it were me I would have the plant as centerpiece and arrange rocks in a horseshoe around it. jmo

I agree with putting that large plant in the middle with some of the rocks around it. Also not a big fan of that piece of driftwood, I would take it out all together. However, I LOVE those rocks and the way they are stacked high in the tank. Nice job.

Ok gang well the tank has been moved to a different room in the house therefore giving me the time and opportunity to rearrange the habitat.
Here it is!
Also put a couple pics of some fishies! (thats maybe half of whats in there!)

Looks good, nice rocks, but if it was my tank I'd personally break up the even formation so it doesn't look like a brick wall.

I really like it. I'd give it an 8 for the design. It seems simple, but it's my taste to have an open front to display the fish, yet hiding spaces for them too. I'd really love to see live plants(swords) inside, but it's your tank. Great job, lookin' forward to seeing future progress and updates!
It looks a little unnatural, I would of gone with more rounded rocks with less of a garden wall effect

I would look into what type of rock you have in your tank. It looks like it might be a type of sand stone, usually given the generic name of arizona flagstone.Although it is hard to tell from the pics exactly what kind it is. This rock has the tendency to acidify the water lowering the pH, which is not good for africans. If your rockwork is not a sandstone then you are good. If you arent sure i would keep a close eye on your pH as well as hardness.

I think this all depends on whether they are tank bred or wild caught. My tank Ph is stable around 7.8 and my fish are still nice and healthy and growing well

i think i mentioned somewhere in the beginning of this post what type of rock it is.. i think it was buckskin limestone or something.. The "uniform" look of the rock is due to my boyfriend.. he has a love for symmetry so it makes him happy and its makes a great showpiece in the living room. Theres lots of room in between the rocks (although it may not be visible in the pics, i assure you there is) and lots of space behind... so this is how the tank will stay for the next while.. I'll be sure to post updates when there are any.
Thanks for all your suggestions/compliments and replies!

Great looking tank!
really nice ! I'm glad you kept that rockwork as is (was). That kind of rock is always going to lend itself in a more pleasing way to a regular stack than to a higgeldy piggeldy nature effect (would look more like a building site that way lol). Great tank - great job.
