Cichlid feeding

Do all cichlids eat the same food? I am planning on getting some Tanganyika cichlids. Need help on feeding and stocking options. Would like to have a variety in my 55g.

many cichlids have specific dietary needs.

many african cichlid require vegetation in their diets..while SA may require more protein.

I second the recommendation for Spectrum, but as was pointed out above, if you've got Africans like mbuna you'll need to supplement with spirulina or veggies.

What would be the best way to present veggies to your stock? I heard using a fishing weight to tie the food at mid-level is one method... Anyone have any others? I'm kinda iffy about putting lead wieghts in my tank.

they make veggie clips that suction cup to the side of your tank.
i usually rubber band my veggies to a rock and drop them in.

I just stick plant weights in them.
