I currently have a coral banded shrimp in my tank, and was wondering if they were at all compatible with cleaner shrimp species(lysmata). It don't look like it would, but thought I'd ask any way. Also, I would like some suggestions on good crabs to keep in a FOWLR tank that is pretty much a reef w/o the corals. TIA.

You can mix any of the lysmata (peppermint, blood, cleaner) shrimp, but coral banded shrimp can be troublemakers. It is likely that the CBS will eat the cleaner eventually. Or not. The next post will probably say "I've had them together for years, and they do great."

I've had them together...just kidding.
I've heard that the CBS are real buttheads and I wouldn't advise mixing the 2 either.

I figured that was probably the case. They don't seem to be the friendliest of creatures any way. Mine even likes to haras my Naso tang, not to mention I think its responsible for a couple missing damsles I've had in the past......:D Thanks for the replies.

CBS will definitely take on whatever they feel they can eat, damsels included. I mixed a CBS and a candy stripe, and the candy stripe lost an antennae and two legs to the CBS before I seperated them, and traded the CBS back to the LFS. The candy stripe has since molted several times and regrown the lost appendages, but they fought a lot when they were together.
