View Full Version : I have Orange Chromide eggs!
My chromides laid eggs today! Does anyone have experience with these fish and breeding them? How long before the eggs hatch?

I just recently had babies in my tank. I had a pair but one recently died. I took out all of my mollies and wondered where did all the babies came from. So it looks like my Chromides had babies and all are doing well. They are in a tank that is kept in our basement, i go down there about once a day for feedings and care on the weekends but that is about it, it is not touched often. So they mustve felt very comfortable and undisturbed to have fry. I could not tell you how long it took for them for the eggs to hatch, cause i am not sure when they were laid.

I used to have a pair of Orange Chromides.
The male died. I have been looking for another male so I could have a breeding pair again. The LPS has been caring only the "red" phase lately. ("red" phase looks like an albino version).
Mine used to dig around the base of the plants and then lay eggs. None ever servived since the other fish were relentless on trying to get at the eggs to eat them, usually the puffers won.

Sorry! I have been working quite a bit lately and haven't gotten around to all the boards as much. They ate the eggs (or someone else did) overnight. I think it was a bad batch anyway as some of them already had white tips by that night. I am currently waiting for them to lay eggs again.

My fry are getting HUGE!!! yeesh, now they are begging when I come up to the tank during feeding time.. One had the Gawl to request a PBJ.. Nah, they are doing fine though.. IT will be interesting to see, these are my first egg layers that have done this and were also my first pair that I got randomly.
