hey guys, has anyone ever tried or seen a BIOwheel canopy in person? I'm considering the 600 for my 55 gallon, because I need new lights and filters anyway, and this seems like a simple all in one setup.. I've done some figuring and the price would be about the same if i used a regular 48" strip light, 2 emperor 400's, and 2 24" versatops... i just like the idea of an all-inclusive package... IF it works as good as they claim. which is why i want to know if anyone else has used them...

are you talking about the eclipse hoods with the filtration, lights, etc all in one?

If so, my only criticism is that the lid opening doesn't give you much space to work in the tank. This makes it difficult to rearrange decorations, plants, and do maintenance.

yeah, that's the one i'm talking about.. Also, its one thing i didn't think about before... my livestock plans consist of (from what i understand) fish that will have the tendency to do some re-arranging of their own with my plants (i'm planning on artificial plants by the way)... hmm... that might be a problem, because if the fish do infact start tearing up the place, i'll have to turn off the filters, and remove the entire hood just to put everything back in place..

I think the lights are less than optimal for growing plants, too.

the one i have has 36w over a 29g tank which is good for lowlight plants.

but the filtration is good? I don't need strong lighting, because i'm going to have artificial plants... how is the water transferred from the aquarium up to the filters? is there a intake tube like regular HOB filters or what? do you have any good pics of how it looks on the tank?

I don't actually ahve that tank running at the moment to give you a pic...its just sitting in my bedroom (logical place right?). It does have an intake tube like a normal HOB or canister filter.
