If people can remember the dead coral skeleton i got on some live rock when i brought it for the nano? Well, i dont think its complelely dead after all...not sure..
Anybody want to make guesses at what these are sprouting up all over it? They are only on the coral skeleton, nowhere else, quite hard to make out really as they are all sooooooo tiny dots...Just have to see how they grow and what they grow into..
Pic is from my photobucket account as i am having problems posting pics the normal way through AC...

Yeah, i gently moved a coctail stick end towards one on the rock, and it shot straight into the rock....

I've recently been doing some studying on sponges (following my anticipation to buy one) and have come across boring sponges (as in digging - not tiresome!!)
These sponges "bore" their way into Stony Corals and I'm wondering if that is what your skelton coral is??? Maybe the sponges are re-surfacing, although that is doubtful in my mind a you say they retract.
Just a thought:)

Its a great thought to keep in mind CPD...i think we just gotta wait for them to grow bigger before an ID can at least be partially guessed at...
