i'm a noobie to plants, and want to know what i need for these plants, i kno most of them are under 2-3 wpg, and i'm using a 10 gal so i'll get about 25-30 watts hopefully for it

these are the plants i'm looking at getting and want to know what i need to keep them alive, they are supposed to be easy to easy/medium difficulty

Aponogeton crispus Crinkled or Ruffled Aponogeton
Cryptocoryne walkeri var. lutea
Cryptocoryne wendtii Crypt Wendtii
Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides
Hygrophila corymbosa Giant Hygrophila
Microsorium pteropus Java fern
Vallisneria tortifolia Twisted Vallisneria/Dwarf Vallisneria
Vesicularia dubyana Java Moss

I really like the look of Limnophila aquatica Giant Ambulia, but its supposed to be harder to mantain, think i could?

I plan on using Flourite Red http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/FlouriteRed.html
for my substrate

would i need any added things to promote healthy plants? i.e. added minerals like iron, phosphorus etc? or would that substrate or another type work alone/better?

A little bit of an aside, are the clay pots from home depot walmart etc ok to use in the tank after being boiled or rinsed thoroughly and how do you go about getting some rocks for your tank ready?/where did u find these rocks?

i have those in my old tank for the most part cuz thats what the lady at petsmart said :P, the petstore i work at doesn't have live plants so i know alot of fish stuff just nothing about plants, so those plants are doing ok and i don't do anything for them :p

but i wanted the plants i listed cuz those are more native to the dwarf puffers enviroment and i wanted to try to make it look as real as possible

I dont see a problem with any of those as they are all pretty undemanding. 2-3 wpg grows pretty much anything, except the high maintence/high light plants.

However, the Giant Hygrophila will spred throughout the tank and basically dominate...

i'll just make sure to cut back the giant hygrophila when its getting to large, altho i do want it to be fairly heavily planted, wat ferts do u add/do u have a co2 system set up? and any ideas about rocks and/or pots?

I use some flourish and flourish excel every once and a while. Using the Hagen Natural plant system, which is like a DIY system, but having some problems with it...though I am pretty sure all were because of my mistakes...however even with the little Co2 that is actually coming out I have noticed much more growth from everything...:)

Vals are good for a Dwarf Puffer tank. I also have floating Hornwort and something similar to Frogbit or Salvinia (can't find the name). There is also some Anubias attached to driftwood. I have attempted a biotope tank, but I usually have to go with plants that are readily available, which might not actually be of the same region as the biotope I am working on.

No troubles at all with almost all crypt species. They just don't like being moved around much. As for hygros, they're definitely fast growers. Java moss is in the same league as well. You can leave that plant anywhere to establish itself. Vallisnerias are nice as well. I still have troubles with ambulia though so I won't comment much on it.
