if there is an animal or fish in the sea that always eats something or someone. how come i never heard of anything that likes to eat ich? something has to be out there that eats things like velvet, ich, other things like that. does anyone know what thing(s) or animal(s) it is? why do we still medicate for those?

I think ICH might be a captivity only thing. Not 100%

I think you might be right.. I can't remember where but I swear that I have read that ICK is not found in the ocean.

Maybe it tastes bad.:yuck:

I heard as tory about a sixline wrasse who ate a bunch of ich off a tang. It probably does exist in the wild in small numbers. There are probably various planton that a skimmer takes care that could eat it.

I was at my LFS this weekend and noticed that they keep a couple skunk cleaner shrimp in their QT tank claiming that they eat ich. Anyone ever heard of this? Oh and those same shrimp are available for sale. Can't anything be host to ich?

I have heard and read just the opposite...they do not eat ich. They will eat other parasites however. Fish host ich, however during the stage where the parasite drops off the host it can rest on substrate. If that substrate were to be moved to your tank it could carry the parasite.

it just with fresh water the solusion against ich is clear, all you have to do is use salt, and not even marine kind. you hold that in a tank for a while and that works like magic without killing a thing. but with hypo it's not that easy. and meds is not the best thing either. i was really wondering why there isn't a kritter when there is one for everything else. i think there is a critter that would love velvet, ich and other parasites like that, but we just didn't discover it yet.

Well my golden retrievers would probably be willing to jump in your tank...eat your fish and splash all the water out. That would probably rid the tank of anything bothersome...well except for the giant furry dog.
