i know that i've been talking a lot about how i'm ganna get a 75-100g tank, but no one is selling them other than petco and they are over $600 there. so i have decided that it seems more reasonable to get a 55-60g tank since they are easier to find. however, the best one i could find currently holds an oscar and turtle. or i can get a terrarium and return the snake and lizard that are in it and make that tank into an aquarium. the 55-60g (that is how it is described) is $50 cheeper, but i think that the other one has a larger tank. is it ethical to get the larger one? or should i get the one with the oscar and turtle in it? also, can i still stock with socolofi and labs and 1 ahli? or what is another way i could possibly stock it?

it also comes with stand, filter, gravel, backdrop and other accessories. (the 55-60g oscar tank that is)

i don't think that it is too big of a deal, seeing as how good of a deal that tank is, but at the same time i will feel bad if i take it back to petco or petsmart.

I'd make sure that the terrarium is actually an aquarium designed to hold water.
If its a terrarium it has thinner glass and could break if filled with water, especially a big one.

ok. but if the terrarium doesn't work out, then should i get the fish tank?

You're kidding?...I see deals on tanks in CA all the time!...they get more used tank deals then anywhere else. Not sure why, I guess more people are into fishkeeping in that area.
I agree with you on the 55 gal, that seems like an easier tank setup to get as they seem to be more common in the marketplace. Maybe you can get duel 55 gals if you wanted a 100 gal?.

possibly, but right now i'll be content with just the one 55g. i just found out that the terrarium is too thin to be an aquarium even though they posted it as an aquarium being used as a terrarium. anyways, i'm sure even a 55g will be big enough to hold my yellow labs and socolofi right? and maybe i might even get some more labs.

I'd look on craigslist for good tank deals in your area.

I recently purchased a brand new 75 gallon tank/stand/canopy from Petco. Soon after, I started looking for a good, used, 2nd, large tank on craigslist. I've seen a lot of good tank set ups on there, for half of what I paid for mine.

It really takes some patience if you do not own a truck though. That's my situation...almost everyone that I've emailed and asked if they could assist in transport (with compensation for gas + time) haven't been able/willing to. So yeah, if you have the means to transport a large tank yourself, you should be set.

the thing with craigslist is it only covers like every city north of san diego. i've found some really good deals too, but my parent's won't drive me 8 hours to buy a 100g tank for $80.
