:welcome:

Hey everyone! my first thread in the reef section woop woop. haha anyway...

i'm getting a 15gallon tank which is to be a nano reef (eventually) ....i'll explain.
:perv:

i have studied for about a year on nano reefs just a few things i would like to ask people who know more than me! I have studied more about the overall running of a nano reef as to what equipment i need and such which is all gravy! hmmmm i realize i havn't asked my question yet.

1, I'm starting a nano reef butttt i want it to be fish only for a lil bit until i study more about coral and inverts. this is a good choice for me. so what fish do you recommend? just a nice starting list for my reserch.remember i want them to be ok in reefs and i'm only thinking of a few. 2-3 fish?

2, i will get an RO system before i get coral and inverts but will i be ok using distilled water for when it just has a few fish i've read that its ok with just fish ( also there is no shop near me that sells RO water )

there ya go! 2 pretty simple questions .....for 2 pretty simple answers please :grinyes:

xxxxxxxxx Rachel

also i won't be using live rock stright away but the tank will have a good filter and i'm aware of the curing process i have to do as not to kill the fish in the tank

Hiya Rach...( am just checkin your post for spelling mistakes... )

I would only 2 fish maximum in my opinion...Some good choices are shrimp and clown goby's, perc clowns, firefish ( with a tight fitting lid ) or some of the smaller cardinal fish...All provide some great character and colour to the system..

Going fish only to start with is a great idea and its nice to see your going slowly and done research....ahhhhh a breathe of fresh air.....

Personal, i would start off on the right foot and get an RO unit from the start..You can use distilled if you want, however, the thing to remember with distilled water is the process in which its made. Distilled water is naturally made from water through copper pipes. Copper is a huge no no in any marine aquarium. Just something to be aware of.

Nice to see your end part the you know about live rock curing..

Good deal

yes the distilled water i'm going to use has no copper ....i've already tested and it says on the back of the bottle. i was thinking a perc clown and 2 clown gobys .... i like odd numbers than even ....weird huh...

so i'm pretty much clued up on it all now. hmmm all the reserch paid off now the hard bit ...putting it into practice.

thanks for helping x

Sounds all good to me, just make sure the clown gobys are quite different to save any clashing..

Go for a nice green one and a nice yellow one (clown gobies)
