My Blue Pearl shrimp & a review of PlanetInverts.com

My Blue Pearl shrimp arrived today from http://www.PlanetInverts.com.

The shipping was via a 6x7x7" Priority Mail box and it was well marked and taped. The box was lined with 1/2" thick styro-slab insulation and the shrimp were in a Kordon breather bag with a bit of moss. The company says they double bag the shrimp in breather bags, but this was not the case with my package.

All the shrimp appeared healthy and the instructions provided by this link http://www.planetinverts.com/Why Ship Young Shrimp.html were very helpful in getting the new guys installed in their new home.

I must say that had I not read the article "Why Ship Young Shrimp?", from the link noted above, I might have been disappointed by the size of the shrimp that were shipped to me. The article made a lot of sense to me as it makes a good case for shipping juvenile shrimp and it prepared me for the size of the shrimp shipped. Though there were more shrimp (13 or 14) than I ordered (10) they were very small. The largest was 5/8" and sizewise they went down from there to as small as 1/8".

So, what I wound up with is 13 or 14 healthy appearing, very active, juvenile, blue pearl shrimp with room to grow into their new home. Everything about the transaction went smoothly and all in all, I rate my experience with PlanetInverts.com as a 9 out of 10 with the reduction due to the "potential for disaster" inherent in the lack of double bagging.

Neocaridina of any species will breed so don't keep them together.

JohnInFlorida, if you rate the service on the "potential for disaster" you'd have to include the potential of a delay by usps (not related to planetinverts) or someone dropping/crushing the box (also not related to planetinverts). For 9 out 10 shipments, one breather bag works. The double bag is for insurance imo :) Not bashing you at all.

And I wasn't bashing them ... My comment was regarding saying "A" and doing "B", that's all. Site said double bagging, that didn't happen. The shipper can't do anything about delay or dropping the box, but he can do what he says he will do, that's all. Besides, it was a GOOD review ... buy his stuff ...
