Should I get an Anthias? My LFS has had a really nice looking Cooper's Anthias for 2+ months that I've been eyeballing. It's definitely a lot pricier than any online store (going for $69.99 + 10% discount at the LFS). But, I know it's doing well to be in the tanks for that long, eating, swimming around, being happy.

Right now, I have a 75g that I've got a black and white clown, false percula clown, coral beauty angel and a diamond goby hiding somewhere that I can't find. 100 lbs live rock that I'm converting to a reef. I'm also aware, before anyone says anything, that the coral beauty may nip at corals. She/he hasn't yet but if she does start, I have a backup. I'm intending to get a bigger tank within a few months. I'm not sure what size, for sure, but probably 125g+ . I'm looking for a more active fish since my clowns are retarded and stay in one spot, the goby is hiding, and the angel stays in the rockwork. So, I was debating between an anthias and a tang knowing I will be upgrading. Help a girl decide. I go in the LFS and turn stupid, pretty much wanting everything so I can't decide.

Oh and, while I'm at it, I have a Humu trigger on its own in a 30g that will go into the 75 when I upgrade the 75 and the 30 will either become sump or QT. Is there any living creature I can put in there with that thing? It carries around fake corals I have in its tank right now and it's barely over 2". It also attacks the turkey baster thing I use to feed it food.

I love the anthias and would have a shoal of them if my tank were at least 6' long. The Coopers isn't known to be on the most hardy but it is better than some. My knowledge of triggers is pretty limited so I'll leave that one for someone else to answer.

I know lots of seasoned reefers that have went broke trying to keep them alive. They have earned nick-names like rent-a-fish. I lost 3 myself.........but I have a different style of reef keeping.

Well, here is hoping it lasts a while. i bought her before I read the post knowing I wouldn't be out there again for a while. I wasn't too happy with the way a new guy at the store handled it so I'm refusing to buy unless my normal guy is there that is gentle and doesn't stress them out chasing them around the tank like a psycho.

The gorgeous guy died :( I knew he was stressed from being chased around and being caught in the net by the guy getting him. So, he sadly is now in the freezer so once the roads clear up and I can make it back to the LFS, see if they'll give me any store credit, some places like proof that it's dead seeing as though it was a $70 fish. Poor guy, no more attempts at Anthias. that's the 2nd one in my time that despite me doing all things properly, they aren't something I am going to attempt for the 3rd time unless they magically get hardier.

I have an anthias and haven't had a problem with him at all.. But I don't purchase fish anywhere they chase a fish with a net. If they can't do it what I consider the right way they don't get my business. There is one store that is awesome, the guy puts the plastic container in the water and coaxes the fish into the container. He doesn't chase them or pull stuff out all over the place. He is excellent and the only guy I let bag my fish.

Yep, same as the guy that is the head of the department. Even a girl that was very uncomfortable bagging a tang since she normally doesn't touch saltwater was so much more gentle. Went slow and got him with the plastic container. this kid just went crazy at him. I wasn't going to say anything if the fish did fine, but now I do believe I should inform the store. They know me, I spend a few hundred dollars a week lately, so I'm sure they'll be very accomodating.

I would hope so if you are that frequent of a customer.
