I've had 3 guppies in a 10g tank for about a month and a half now. The algae seems to be building up unusually quickly. I went away for a week, cleaned the glass before I left, And when I got back the algae was so thick I could barely see through the glass.
My question is, what could possibly be causing the algae build up, and what can I do to reduce it?
Do you know your water parameters? Ammonia Nitrites and Nitrates? Do you keep live plants in the tank as well? How often do you feed?

I usually take a sample to the local pet store about once a month and get them to test it, but I haven't done it for this particular tank yet. I don't have any live plants and I feed twice a day.
I would cut back to feeding once a day. That will be enough. Sounds like you have excess nutrients in the tank and that can lead to algea build up. Do some water changes as well to get the levels down, nitrates I believe. This should slow the algea down, though it will always be there to some extent. Good luck there.
