I have had my rock in the tank for 2 days now and everything looks fine at the moment.
I have seen some little critters out and about which look like shrimps? very small whatever they are.
I have also seen something which I thought was corel, in a hole in the rock were 2 strands sticking out that were lime green with dark spots on them. They were very small but at the same time quite visible. When I went to show the wife, they had gone.
What could it be?

I have also noticed what looks like a clump of corel in the shade between the rocks. It is about the size of your thumb nail and has floaty strands coming from a central lump on the rock.
Is it normal to get coral growing from live rock just bought from the lfs?

Please excuse my descriptions, im sure there are names for these 'floaty strands and lumps' but im new to this game.

Any help appreciated.

Superb, thats what i like hearing..good start

These will more than likely be copepods..Good food source for fish..

With regards to your corals, on both accounts i feel these could be aiptasia or majano anemone's...Both are pest anem's and need to be removed from the tank..

A photo would be great to get a deffinate ID on these for you and suggest some action to take..

First and third photos are aiptasia. Fourth could be a leather coral or some other soft coral. Let it grow for awhile and send new pics. Kill the aiptasia asap, they spread like wild fire and become quite a nuisance.

the two pictures on the left are definitely aiptasia anemones...

they need to be removed.. either boil some water and suck it into a turkey baster and the blast them with it repeatedly, or go get some "joe's juice". it is a mixture that you squirt onto them underwater and it will kill them instantly.

the photos on the right i cannot identify. maybe some sort of polyp?? does anything come out of it??? might be some sort of tube worm too..

you should definitely take car of those aiptasia anemones though, they are considered pests and can sting other corals and overrun your tank very quickly... VERY QUICKLY..
