I've seen on plantcentral that they sometimes they take the top brace off.Should I worry about it?

Ok I have plexiglass that I can use.Could I just Silicone it to the old 1?

Are you sure that the plantcentral folks actually remove the center brace? Maybe they are using custom-built or Euro-braced tanks, or maybe older tanks. I'm using a 75 gallon with no center brace, but it's an old tank and was built that way. The center brace is load-bearing and I wouldn't use your tank as is. I'm not sure about fixing it with plexi. If you know what brand of tank you have, you should be able to order a whole new top piece from the manufacturer and it would be worth the peace of mind.:)

I agree with Severum Mama, check and see if a replacement brace is available.

If you order a whole new top trim piece you'll have to remove the old one. It's not that hard just carefully use a butter knife or a thin metal scraper used for spakling or whatever. Take your time. After it's removed use a razor blade to remove old silicone.
