Hey all. My blue leg has been hiding in this hole in my LR for a couple of days now. He does come out at night to eat but there's not much there for him to feast on. So i was reading and found that you could feed them dried seaweed when there's not enoght algae to eat. I was in chinatown today to see my wifes grandparents and we stopped at the local grocery and picked up some dried seaweed. There's no seasoning on it just plain dried seaweed. Was wondering before i try to put some in the tank has anyone done this or heard of this before. Also maybe a suggestion as how to feed it to him. Maybe attach to a clip. sould i soak it 1st before i put in tank. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I feed my fish a shrimp pellet or two at feeding time and my hermits love them. There was like ten or so chowing down on one the other night.
I could also send you some of my nuisance algae for your hermit if you like:D
Hope this helps!

I use sushi nori in my home made food mixture and used to feed it to my tang after it had soaked in Selcon.. Its basically the same thing.

Mine doesn't stay in very long because it gets eaten rapidly. But I'd remove it at the end of the day if it is still there.

:iagree: I put mine in on the vegi clip in the morning and take it out b/4 the lights go out at night.. When the tang was in the tank it would be gone before I got home from work.. Now that I have removed the Feather Duster killer from my tank I have some left at the end of the day.

I haven't tried that brand I just go for the sushi nori sheets. I keep one supply for the daily nibble and put several sheets into my home made food mix (based loosely off of melev's recipe)

I use the sushi nori sheets also. Since most of the algae in my tank is cleaned up by my hermits I feed my emerald crab a piece of nori on a stick every few days. My angel eats the dark green cubes from the Formula Two frozen foods.

So today i went to the LFS and picked up some seaweed salad green marine algae sheets like these. http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/15360/product.web except that mine were sold in a liplock bag, not the plastic case. same brand tho. He did eat some of the seaweed i got lastnight and today i found out he molted. So maybe thats why he was hiding the past 2 days. When i seen the molt i didn't realize at 1st what it was. After i caught it with the net i seen it was what looked like just the legs and claws of him. Thought he died, looked like something ate the back half of him than i looked at the shell and there he was sitting in his hole picking the rock.

Just an update. My hermit loved the seaweed salad. He pigged out when i put it in. went right to it and started munching.
