For all those that have canisters out there... You know that poo colored stuff that lines the tubes of the canister and what's caught in the mechanical filter material in the canister? Well, does/can that stuff grow in the substrate as well?
I have a 75 gallon cichlid tank. Every week I vacuum up "tons" of poo from the rocks. I'm starting to wonder if it's really poo or if it's the same stuff that's in the lines of my canister tank.
Hope this makes some sense.
On a bright note, after fighting high Nitrates for over two months I finally got them down to 10 with last night's 30 gallon water change!!!
