strange spot on my rbta

so i've noticed a wierd looking spot on my rbta ever since it's run-in with my maxi-jet. im a little concerned tho it doesn't seem to be distressed...

sorry i didn't point it out but it's the white growth looking thing (kinda hard to miss). what the heck is it?

im not surprised its slightly damaged wouldnt you be if you got caught in a maxi jet. It prob been torn and the white thing your seeing is its repair site, although it does resemble something that just came out of its mouth.

def not something that came out of it's mouth as that's not it's mouth and it's been stuck there at least a week now. i just never saw a tear or anything after it got sucked up in the PH so i thought there wasn't an injury... im almost thinking this is unrelated but guess that's unlikey?

I am curious what that is to, I have seen it before on a Sebae in my friends tank. What I can tell you about that is that after about a month the growth just disappeared and his nem was fine. His did not get sucked up into a powerhead beforehand, at least not to my knowledge. If I recall correctly the growth was about the size of an eraser head, no bigger than that. His Sebae was otherwise unaffected by it.

Hopefully some of the others have seen this before.

that's pretty much the size of this growth as well. strange. i hope it goes away like the one on your friends nem! glad to head his was unaffected by it.

yes but i couldn't find anything except something about a tear in the membrane of someone's bta which im pretty positive this is not...

This is what i would try and do...it looks out of place to me, as though its been dropped onto the nem...

Thats what I was thinking.. It almost looks like junk that blew in from the tank somewhere. But if its attached I'd just watch it and make sure its not a growth of some kind and getting bigger.

You could also try WWM and see what they think.

well whatever it was is gone now... who knows what it was but the nem never seemed bothered by it!

I Wouldnt worry about it too much, I get similar looking (smaller thought) on my carpet. It goes away and sometimes re-appears. I would agree that it looks like "junk" got blown into it.
