With in the next year or so my fiance and I will be purchasing a house and with that will come a larger tank. I have been doing lots of research and thinking back and forth lately about size and stock. I was on DPs for a while but the whole snail farm thing kinda creeps me out. So now I'm thinking about a small (as in 3" or less) cichlid community. Could anyone suggest some good cichlid varieties that fit that description? I was thinking GBRs and GGRs. Also I would like to keep my tank to 60 gals or less if possible. How many would fit in a tank this size and are there any other colorful semi-peaceful fish that could also go into this tank? I would like to stay away from the larger more aggressive cichlids for now.

Thanks,
Lauren

I don't really know.. maybe a nice Tanganyikan set-up? Shell dwellers, perhaps? Or some Julies? Or you could do some Two-Banded Cichlids... there are several options from lake Tanganyika.

There are many varieties of Apistogramma that would fit the bill too. You could then add tetras, cories, dwarf plecos....the list goes on and on.
