Hi i have a 10 gal with a aquatech 5/15 and want to add another filter and saw a Penguin 125 filter for sale in the classifieds basically would this make a good addition? Also what are your experiences with bio-wheels? Is there a why to add one to the aquatech?

thanks

bio wheels are great for biological build up. they are pourous and the spinning creates lots of aggitation (oxygen).

I second AquaClear filters. They're simple and solid. There's no need for two filters unless you really want to get the current up in the tank. Just use an AquaClear sized for a 20 gallon and you'll be fine. Run your old filter for two weeks with it though to seed the new filter.

I love the bio-wheels, i have them on all 3 of my tanks. They seem to pick up to the biological stuff on the wheel quite quickly.

wow this is hard lol everywhere I read its basically 50/50 aquaclear's good because it has more room and flexible for media and the penguins because of the bio wheel...

with the aquaclear what media should I have in there?

also I noticed that my aquatech looks exactly like the penguin mini Im guessing that one company makes them and puts different brans on these things?

thanks

I like that setup is it in this order?
TOP
floss
ceramic rings
sponge
BOTTOM

Is there a brand preference or all the aquaclear media stuff is good? msjinkzd do you keep the rings in sometype of bag? how often do I need to change the rings?

thanks (I keep asking too many question lol)

that is it exactly, i use ac sponges, not sure what brand rings, doesn't really matter, and pillow stuffing from walmart for the floss (poly fill, $2 a bag). I have never changed the rings, they are in a mesh bag that they came with and I have had them in there for two years.
