I have a 18 or so gallon tank with multiple tetras and two gouramis in it, one blue gourami and one gold gourami, and they both are starting to get pinkish at the base of their fins. Is this due to high ammonia in the water?
I don't know what pink fins is exactly. You should be testing your water though and not waiting for a sign of illness to come up to let you know the parameters are not right. Your ammonia level should be at 0 if you are able to test. Do a water change and let us know about the water stats if you can.
They look like there's blood building up in the base of their fins and I just got over a bad case of Ich in my tank so I'm trying to be sure it hasn't returned. And my concerns with the ammonia is b/c I use those conditioning tablets to remove the bad elements from my water and i read on the package something about the chloramine releasing ammonia whenever the tablets nuetralizes it, thus leading me to believe maybe they were causing ammonia to build up in my tank. I'll going to get a ph and dh reading asap no matter what.
