Dos anyone think i can add 1 in my 25 gallon heavily planted tank? Or they get way to big for a 25 gallon tank?

I'm never kept discus, but until somebody more knowledgable answers, I would say they will get too big for a 25g tank. It's a big fish and 25g isn't a lot of room for it.

And i'm pretty sure they do a lot better in groups of 4 or more.

They do better in groups and need pristine water conditions. A 25 is way to small for even one.

a 25 is not too small for a single discus.
but, the single discus is an uncommon occurance.

discus should be in shoals of 4 (minimum) bteer in a group of 5-6 in reality.

so in a nutshell.. to properly keep discus you should consider a larger tank.
also in a heavily planted tank it is unlikely you will find a large individual.

to get Discus as large as their potential.you need a bare bottom and feed the discus several times per day..even the adults should get several small feedings(they are foragers)

and remove the uneaten food.. usually several water changes per week for adults is recommended and even more for juveniles.

I have kept a pair of discus in a 25 gal tank for some time. I have had them spawn in there as well. My recent twosome were only a duo since they did not spawn. I keep the tank pristine and have just recently lost the big male (pictured below). My best guess as to the cause of death was he was startled and bolted into the glass which resulted in his death. This is the downside to keeping them in this size tank.

I have had a duo/pair in this tank for going on 3.5 years now. I would not recommend most folks try this as there needs to be 2 adults and they should be one of each sex. Two fms might work but for sure 2 males would not.

I have seen 10" Discus. They only get this big in perfect water conditions. Like 100% daily water changes.

Two Tank - they ping-pong from fright in larger tanks two. I lost an expensive electric dream that way in my 72G. They bolt like a bat out of you know where. They do not like anyone to approach the tank in dark colored clothes. It can cause the same flight reaction in them. It is believed they think a predator is nearby when they see a dark figure move past the tank. I have threatened to bleach my son's black sweatshirt white at times!
