Hi guys and gals @ the saltwater fourm, I have recently picked up a bio cube 8 from a LFS for $149, which I thought was a good deal compared to online stores' such as Big Als. This will be my first tank since I moved earlier this year. I've always had a 55 gallon reef tank. So I guess I just have a couple of questions about nano tanks.

1. Should I keep the feeding lid open since I see little room for gas exchange, and I worry about my pH dropping.

2. I always had an auto dripper for calcium, but with this small of a tank, can I just get away with adding it when topping off water?

Hey there...

It should be fine to leave the lid closed. Just ensure you have some nice water agitation at the surface to aid gas exchange. On the issue of dripping calc, it will all depend on what you are having in the tank really...if your going with good hard corals, then yes add calc, if mainly softies you may easily get away without it...

Of course, whether to use a calc dripper or manually add to water change water, well, it depends on how accurate your dripper is..
